Pre-Accelerator for deep tech startups

This funding opportunity, run by the European Innovation Council (EIC) under the WIDERA program, aims to elevate early-stage deep-tech startups in widening countries. It's designed to help them advance technologies, solidify business models, and become investment-ready.

These are EU Member States or Associated Countries with historically lower participation in Horizon Europe programs - typically nations like Poland, Portugal, Romania, Greece, as well as associated countries (e.g. Moldova, North Macedonia, Tunisia).

• Grant amount: €300,000 to €500,000

• Coverage rate: 70% of eligible project costs (must co-fund 30%)

• Duration: Up to 24 months.

• Total call budget: €20 million, aiming to support up to ~50 startups.

• Additional support:

  • Free access to Business Acceleration Services (coaching, bootcamps, pitch sessions).

  • Fast-track access to the larger EIC Accelerator.

  • Seal of Excellence recognition for strong proposals that can’t be funded due to budget limits.

• Eligibility: A single SME (including small mid-caps) legally established in a widening country.

• Project stage: Must be developing deep-tech, with secure IP rights, a clear market route-to-market, and rigorous business milestones.
